Girls' Soccer Defeats Crusaders in Scrimmage

On Tuesday afternoon, the girls' soccer team headed to Lancaster for a scrimmage against the Crusaders. Last season, the Pioneers made a thrilling run to the district championship game, falling just short in a 1-0 loss.

The Pioneers notched the first tally off the match nine minutes in when a shot of the foot of Ashlynn Keys slipped through the goalkeeper's hands and into the back of the net.

Freshman Chloe Bucher recorded a hat-trick in the 2nd half, scoring three times from close range. One of her goals was thanks in part to a great pass by Jenna Daveler. Marissa Puelo and Molly Bucher added to the tally, with the latter converting on a penalty after Ashlynn Keys was fouled in the box.

SCORING SUMMARY:

1st Half:
11:20 (1st) Ashlynn Keys. Assisted by Maddie Baker.
2nd Half:
18:48 (3rd) Chloe Bucher.
17:30 (4th) Chloe Bucher. Assisted by Jenna Daveler.
5:23 (4th) Chloe Bucher.
1:00 (4th) Marissa Puelo.

While it was a non-competitive fixture, it was still a dominant showing from the Pioneers and is an indication of great things to come this season. The first regular-season game for the team is Friday, as they will take the short trip to Millersville for a battle with the Comets.
