Cross Country: Boys Remain Undefeated, Girls Keep it Close

On Tuesday afternoon, the cross country team hosted a meet with Annville-Cleona, Donegal, and Manheim Central. Both the boys and the girls were 2-0 heading into the meet.

The girls ran first. Annville-Cleona's Braetan Peters won the race by a whole minute with a time of 20:18. Jaclyn Martin was the top finisher for the Pioneers and the 2nd best finisher overall with a time of 21:18. Aubrey Magagna, Morgan Wright, Molly Wissler, and Keira Smecker rounded out the Pioneer top 5. The girls took a 27-33 win against the Dutchmen but fell to the Barons and Indians by margins of 5 and 3.

Unsurprisingly, Colin Whitaker took home the win in the boys' race with a time of 16:26. Six out of the top ten runners in the race belonged to the blue and white. Parker Stoner, Adrian Elia, Ben Devine, and David Pritchard were the other top 5 finishers for L-S. The Pioneers dominated the race, taking home 3 wins all by a very large margin.

The boys are now 5-0 and are uncontested at the top of the Section 2 standings. The girls drop to 3-2 but have a much more favorable upcoming schedule. The next meet for the team is next Tuesday at Cocalico.
