Enigma Weekend Edition: Poetry by Zach Wade

"The Final Game"
by Zach Wade

Walking into the rink
going into the locker room
seeing all your teammates
knowing this is your last game
with your friends
your parents coming out to watch
getting ready
focusing
listening to music
going over game plan
walking out
onto the ice
first puck drop
of the last game
you realize
you have to
win this
game
the most
important game
of your life
playing with your
best friends and
knowing that even
after the game
that the team’s
bond will last
the rest of
your life and
you win the
final and most
important game of
your life
by scoring the winning goal.
