Prom information for all who are attending on Saturday, May 19. 2018:
  • All students who are attending the prom must be in school tomorrow, Friday, May 18, 2018. 
  • The prom begins at 5:30 pm. All attendees must arrive by 6:30 pm to gain entry.

Prom. It's the night many upperclassmen dream about all year.

This year the 2018 Lampeter-Strasburg Junior-Senior Prom is being held at the Country Barn on Saturday, May 19 from 5 to 10 pm. Tickets will cost $65 and go on sale starting Tuesday, April 24 and run until Friday, May 4.

Before tickets go on sale later this month, students interested in attending will want to ensure they met all the requirements which include:
  1. Being a member of the Junior or Senior class in good standing*. Students in good standing are seniors that have completed their 30 hours of community service and have submitted their senior graduation project, or any student without any school financial obligations.
  2. Being a register guest of a Junior or Senior student in good standing, who has completed the guest approval form. Guest approval forms are available in the high school main office or can be downloaded here.
  3. Having achieved 9th grade status but not yet reached his/her 21st birthday.
Furthermore, all students in attendance must be in school on Friday, May 18 (the day before the prom).

All ticket sales are final. Checks should be made payable to "Lampeter-Strasburg High School."

Rumble Fish Book Review

I recently finished reading  Rumble Fish  written by S.E. (Susan Eloise) Hinton and published in 1975. The book starts with Rusty-James on a beach and he runs into an old friend of his that he hadn’t seen in years, Steve. That’s when he flashes back to everything he and Steve had done and been through when they were kids. Rusty-James’ memory is all messed up, and he barely ever remembered much from his childhood, but seeing Steve made everything come back to him… and that was probably for the worst. Most of the book is from Rusty-James’ point of view (in a flashback) when he was fourteen years old. He was the toughest kid in his neighborhood… besides his brother, the Motorcycle Boy, of course. The Motorcycle Boy’s real name is never said, everyone just calls him the Motorcycle Boy because he was constantly stealing and riding motorcycles. Book Review: Read the story of 14-year-old 'Tex' an aimless, trouble-prone youth

Book Review Before school started, I went to Barnes & Noble to get a few books from my favorite author, S.E. (Susan Eloise) Hinton, to read as the year started. I got That was Then This is Now , Rumble Fish , (a third copy of) The Outsiders , and Tex .  I had already read The Outsiders at least nine times, I had finished That was Then This is Now , and I had just finished Rumble Fish , so I decided to pick up Tex and start reading. The author of these books writes them in the only way I can ever read books. First person point of view with a relatable narrator.  This one was told by the point of view of Texas (Tex) McCormick, a fourteen year old boy who is living with his brother Mason because they’re mom died when Tex was little and their dad walked out on them a few months back.Texas (Left) and Mason (Right) McCormick Texas believes that Pop (their dad) will be back soon, but Mason knows otherwise…or at least he thinks he does.
