Lady Pioneers clinch Section 2 title with ease
After a long season of grueling practices, it finally paid off. On Thursday, January 26, the Lampeter-Strasburg Lady Pioneers defeated Garden Spot, securing the Section 2 title. The beginning of the game looked iffy, with Garden Spot leading early.
In other exciting news both Laura Horner and Emma Gochnauer are both closing in on 1000 points. Continuing deep into playoffs will help them reach the mark.
Nora Holmes, a sophomore off of the bench, hit a buzzer-beating three that put the Lady Pioneers up by 18 before half. She hit a career high with 4 three-pointers. Holmes stated "It is about the team. It's not about me, me, me, it's about we, we, we".
After half time the Pioneers kicked it in gear, holding Garden Spot to a scoring drought. The Pioneers ran away with the game later in the second half. The final score of the game was 56-26 over the Spartans.
Also important to note, this this was Coach Tony Fink’s 100th win with the program. He was recognized on Friday before practice with a celebratory cake card and signs for the other coaches.
