Tennis team drops match to Annville-Cleona

On Thursday, March 31, the boys’ tennis team suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to Annville-Cleona.
Evan Winters and Tyler Thomas converse during the doubles matches; winning more of them would have helped the Pioneers avert their narrow defeat
The team started off relatively weak, with Tyler Thorius and Matt O’Neil bringing in the only win out of the three doubles matches played. However, the team stayed upbeat and hopeful, encouraging each other throughout the match.

After a seemingly effortless spike by team captain Tyler Thomas,  Tyler Thorius excitedly proclaimed, “Get dunked on!”

The encouragement did wonders for the boys, propelling Greg Mowrer and Tyler Thomas to wins in their singles matches. It ended up coming down to the wire, with sophomore Evan Winters eventually losing an incredibly well fought match after a super tiebreaker.

With this loss, the team now holds a .500 record at 3-3 (1-3 in league play).
