On Saturday afternoon, the Lampeter-Strasburg Indoor Color Guard traveled to Spring Grove High School for the Greater Harrisburg Region 6 Championship, part of Tournament Indoor Association.

With its best score of the season, 86.44 out of 100, the unit defeated six other color guards to take first place.

Junior captain Kayla Pugliese did not feel that it was the unit's best performance, but was pleased with the win nonetheless.

"I was surprised because it wasn't one of our better performances," she explains. "I'm pretty confident (going into Wildwood). We know what we need to do as individuals, so I feel we can really nail it and be successful."

The guard leaves for the Atlantic Coast Championships in Wildwood, New Jersey on Thursday and will compete in preliminary competition Friday with the chance to advance to semifinals on Saturday and finals on Sunday.

The group looks to improve on last year's eighth place finish.
