Swim team splits dual meet with Conestoga Valley

The Pioneer swim teams dueled the Bucks today. Both teams on either side worked very hard and had many personal bests and fast times.
The girls defeated Conestoga Valley with the score of 106 to CV’s 55. First places from L-S were Hailey Welchans (200-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle), Allyson Dull (50-yard freestyle), Kristin Allen (100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke). The 200-yard medley relay team (Emily Lichty, Ellie Kingsley, Kristin Allen, and Allyson Dull) won with the time of 2:08.73. The 200-yard freestyle relay (Meghan Brubaker, Julia Smoker, Alexis Sutton, and Hailey Welchans) also won with the time of 1:57.21 as well as 400-yard freestyle relay (Kristin Allen, Meghan Brubaker, Allyson Dull, and Hailey Welchans) with the time of 4:15.41. 
The boys fell to Conestoga Valley with 116-55. Colin Anderson pulled through with the only first places for the boys’ team in the 500-yard freestyle and the 50-yard Freestyle. Anderson broke the pool record in his 50-yard freestyle race with the time of 22.47.
The team has another home meet on Thursday against Ephrata.

Book Review: Read the story of 14-year-old 'Tex' an aimless, trouble-prone youth

Book Review Before school started, I went to Barnes & Noble to get a few books from my favorite author, S.E. (Susan Eloise) Hinton, to read as the year started. I got That was Then This is Now , Rumble Fish , (a third copy of) The Outsiders , and Tex .  I had already read The Outsiders at least nine times, I had finished That was Then This is Now , and I had just finished Rumble Fish , so I decided to pick up Tex and start reading. The author of these books writes them in the only way I can ever read books. Rumble Fish Book Review

I recently finished reading  Rumble Fish  written by S.E. (Susan Eloise) Hinton and published in 1975. The book starts with Rusty-James on a beach and he runs into an old friend of his that he hadn’t seen in years, Steve. That’s when he flashes back to everything he and Steve had done and been through when they were kids. Rusty-James’ memory is all messed up, and he barely ever remembered much from his childhood, but seeing Steve made everything come back to him… and that was probably for the worst. Most of the book is from Rusty-James’ point of view (in a flashback) when he was fourteen years old. He was the toughest kid in his neighborhood… besides his brother, the Motorcycle Boy, of course. The Motorcycle Boy’s real name is never said, everyone just calls him the Motorcycle Boy because he was constantly stealing and riding motorcycles.
