L-S builds on early season winning streak with decisive victory over Lebanon Catholic

Lebanon Catholic may have started with the lead in Wednesday night’s boys basketball game, but it did not last long. After going down 2-0, L-S responded to go on a 19-point run, ending the first quarter with a 19-3 lead. From there, the Pioneers simply kept adding to their lead, winning 82-40.

In such a blowout win, often every player on the winning side looks good, and this was certainly true for the Pioneers. Scoring contributions came from all around, but top scorers include Connor Brown with 15, Isaac Beers with 11, and three players scoring nine each: Jared Houck, Darren Metz and Ben Sandberg.

Jared Houck scored his nine points by shooting three for three from three-point range, an impressive feat. The biggest cheer of the night, however, came when Ben Sandberg caught an alley-oop and put down a two-hand, rim shaking slam dunk, riling the sizable student section.

It was certainly an impressive victory for the Pioneers, who move to 5-0 on the season. The Pioneers play Manheim Central at home on Friday in a game that promises to be a hotly contested matchup that will yield valuable indications about both teams early in the season.
