October Club Capsules

Each month, LSNews.org will publish "club capsules", which will give you a snippet of what clubs are up to around L-S High School. The information is sent directly from either the club secretary or advisor, and amalgamated here.

Varsity Club

Varsity Club ran the Hall of Fame banquet on September 18. Members served dessert to the inductees and their guests. Varsity club members also served as emcees at the banquet. Three of our female members escorted the inductees at halftime and beautified the pictures with their dashing smiles and evening ensemble. Varsity Club is partnering with the local YMCA to help them run the first annual Fall Fest 5K race on October 17 to benefit the YMCA cancer recovery program. Members helped register runners at the high school and promoted the race by creating video announcements and displaying posters throughout the school.

Mini-Thon

Save the Date: Mini-THON is Dec. 4th 6pm – Dec. 5th 6am

Leading up to the Mini-THON, L-SHS will have four “Diamond Days” to raise awareness for the Four Diamonds Fund, an organization that helps local families and seeks to end childhood cancer. The Four Diamonds Fund was set up by the parents of Christopher Millard, who was 11 years old when he was first diagnosed with cancer. Shortly before he lost his 3-year battle with cancer, he wrote a story about a great knight who sought out the four diamonds of Courage, Wisdom, Honesty, and Strength in order to be released from the grips of an evil sorceress. These diamonds symbolized the attributes that Chris believed were necessary to overcome cancer.
