McClintock, Welchans lead girls; Raum leads boys in L-S XC's home meet

In scorching heat compounded by ridiculous humidity, the Lampeter-Strasburg Cross Country team hosted the first of its two home meets today, and as a team, was quite successful.

"It was hot, but we worked as a team to push through," remarks senior captain Caleb Gawne.

respectively for L-S

Both the boys' and girls' teams did not disappoint. The boys pulled away with seven runners in the top fifteen. Luke Raum led the way, and came in sixth overall with the time of 18:30. In their overall record today, the boys beat Northern Lebanon, Manheim Central, and Columbia, but lost to Elizabethtown.
Hailey Welchans finished second on the
girls' team for L-S

The girls' team pulled away with six runners finishing in the top fifteen and one finishing in the top five, Jasmine McClintock with the time of 20:51. The girls defeated Northern Lebanon, Columbia, and Elizabethtown, but fell to Manheim Central.

"The girls packed up well," says senior Beth DiBiase. "All of us pushed one another to stick together. I'm proud of us."

Both cross country teams should be proud of their performances in what felt like a sweltering summer sauna. Each and every runner had positive attitudes and a strive for excellence.
