Lady Pioneers' win streak comes to an end against undefeated E-Town in volleyball

The L-S girls' volleyball team win streak came to an end tonight with a 3-0 loss against a very strong team from Elizabethtown. Going into the match, the Pioneers were undefeated with a 3-0 record overall and 2-0 in their league. E-Town came into the match the same record.

Things got off to a rocky start for the Pioneers. E-Town came out with a 10 point streak before the girls scored their first point. Four aces from Katelyn Reed along with a block from Leah Wieland and Allyson Dull cut that nine point lead down to four points, but the Bears pulled away again. Kills from Wieland and Reed could not prevent a 17-25 loss in the first set.

The second set got off to a better start. The ladies in blue went out even with the Bears to a 6-6 tie game. Kills from Wieland, Allyson Dull, Alexa Troiano, and Katelyn Reed kept the match within 2 points. However, E-Town pulled away towards the end and won the 2nd set 25-20.

The third set was dominated by E-Town. The score stayed even up until each team both scored their first 10 points. While neither side truly shined, the score was tied at 14-14. From there, E-Town pulled away. The Lady Pioneers were able to score only one more point after that. E-Town won the final set 25-15 and dealt the final blow of the match to win 3-0.

The girls’ next match is against Garden Spot, who is undefeated with a 4-0 record overall, and 2-0 in their league.
