In My Own Words: Developing close knit friendships in Color Guard

In My Own Words

In this installment of In My Own Words, Lyana Hall talks her about being in the color guard.

I have been doing color guard for two years. During that time I have become close friends with my wonderful teammates, which include Christine Fritz, Maddie Swope, Hannah Westerman, Hannah Martz, Lyana Hall, Lauren Powell, Olivia Swope, Sarah Baxter, Mary Katherine Roda, Isabella Eckert, Ally Musser, Erin Kuntz, Julie Stinson, and Isabella Hayes.

We are very supportive and helpful with each other. In fact, being a part of a team with these girls is a whole lot of fun too.

One of the fun activities we did this year was a Tag Day. We went around the Lampeter-Strasburg school community asking for donations for color guard and band equipment. My group had two band members and two guard member. The band members were Jillian and Lander and guard member was  Christine. I didn’t do much the talking but Christine and Julian did.

Guess what? My tag day team got a $100 bill out of no where.

Recently I was at a band festival that all the bands and color guard perform on the field. It was fun seeing everyone dances and tosses.

Last Friday we performed at Manheim Central. We cheered as loud as we could on the bleachers. The color guard and marching band watched Central's marching band and color guard. Their performance was amazing.  .

This season my teammates have turned into amazing friends. If you are looking for a fun organization to join, consider joining Color Guard.

In My Own Words is a first person written series that highlights Lampeter-Strasburg High School students activities.
