Total annihilation: A 22-1 victory for the boys lacrosse team over Cocalico

Monday's game started -- and ended -- much like an average game for the Lampeter-Strasburg boys lacrosse team. The boys notched another impressive win against Cocalico, 22-1. Trevor King and Nate Patterson ripped through Cocalico’s defense. King scored three, two assisted by Nate Patterson, who scored two of his own. Jake Groff also notched a goal for L-S midway through the first quarter.

L-S was in the lead by five when the second quarter stared; the score 6-1. Nate Patterson continued strongly for L-S assisting Teddy Mazaheri and King. Patterson himself scored before the end of the half assisted by Mazaheri.

"I think that all around it was a great team win," says Patterson, reflecting on the win, "from Marco in the cage, to attack putting it in the net."

Then, in the second half, the Patterson brothers did their thing when they scored the tenth goal for L-S. Alex Knarr and Nate Patterson scored two each later in the quarter, while Darren Metz, Mazaheri, and Tyler Zameroski each scored one.

The fourth quarter nailed shut the lid on Cocalico’s game with more than a few goals by L-S. King and Metz each scored again for the team. Shane Lawler, Evan Portrey, and Patrick McClain also scored bringing the score to a startling 22-1. In the words of Trevor King, "The team played their hearts out."

Goalie Marco Peticca encapsulated the team's reaction, saying, "I thought the team played really well today. Every single player did what they were supposed to. I left an easy one in early on, but the offense kept pumping them in, and I’m thankful for that."

L-S beat Cocalico 22-1.

The team would like to encourage all that are able to come to Comet Field (at Penn Manor) to watch the annual Whitey game (a tribute to former L-S lacrosse player Ryan Weitzel, who lost his battle with cancer several years ago) on Thursday!
