Board Bit: Update on the School Board's January meeting

Monday night was the Lampeter-Strasburg School Board Meeting for the month of January. The meeting started off by recognizing several students. Next came brief reports from the various committees. Because of the holidays, only the finance committee and personnel committee met. The finance committee is concerned about the undefined budget from Harrisburg and is coming up with back up plans to ensure that the school district will not be negatively impacted. After this came the student reports.

At Lampeter Elementary, the popular program, "Preschool Story Time", will be held on January 12th at 1:00 and 2:00. A roller skating party will also be held. It will be on January 30th at the Overlook Skating Rink. Over at Hans Herr, the students had a fun month and were able to see an x-pogo show. The 3rd graders were able to come to the High School for the annual Holiday Workshop, and they were very thankful for everyone involved. At, Martin Meylin, there was a holiday door decorating contest and candy grams. The Martin Meylin Musical The Little Mermaid, Jr is this week. At the High School, the Varsity Club had its annual Dodgeball Tournament. Also, the L-S Mini-THON was held at the beginning of the month. The superintendent's report was given and then the meeting adjourned to executive session. The meeting was good and started the New Year off well.
