First L-S Home Marching Band Performance

Just last Friday, September 15, the L-S Marching Band had their very first performance at the home stadium. The band had their first hype session and hosted middle schoolers for Band Buddy Night, as well.

Each member of the band was placed with their middle school apprentice before the game to introduce them to life in marching band. There were a total of 130 middle schoolers who showed up that night to participate. When asked about a favorite part of the night, Claire Nafiziger, grade 8, stated, “It is really energetic and fun. Everybody just hangs out and plays music together.” The first performance of the evening was the hype session on the lower L-S turf. The band played warm-ups and danced a bit to a small crowd of people before the real show.

Shortly after, the marching band departed from their buddies to perform their 3-part show of 2023, Dare To Dream. The song list begins with “Not Afraid to Dream,” followed by “A Million Dreams” from the 2017 hit movie The Greatest Showman, and ends with “Abram’s Pursuit.” The band proceeded to perform the “Star Spangled Banner” with their band buddies before the start of the football game.

After the band’s full performance, they left for the stands where they proudly played and cheered the L-S pioneers running to glory on the field. When questioned about their first home game experience, Leah Altobello, grade 9, said, “The hype session was really fun. From singing our hearts out to playing our hearts out, you really get to see how the band is just one big family.” Auburn Heinly, grade 9, simply stated, “I think that was the most fun I’ve had so far.”

While it was a great first Band Buddy Night for many of the freshmen involved, it was an emotional one for the seniors who will be graduating this year, as it was their last.

Overall, the night was full of fun and laughter for all the band members and band buddies. The Marching Band invites everyone to their next hype session before the football game on September 29th on the lower turf. Go Pioneers!
