Pioneers Cruise Past Indians on Senior Night

On Monday night, the Lady Pioneers hosted the Donegal Indians. The Indians were winless going into the game with a record of 0-11. The Pioneers were looking to secure a spot in next week's District III playoffs, as they were seeded 13th going into the game. It was also senior night in West Lampeter, as all the Pioneer seniors were honored before the game.

The Indians jumped out to an early lead but didn't hold it for long. Hailey Leaman knocked down shots from downtown on back-to-back possessions, followed up by another three-pointer from Megan Manion. The Pioneers continued to roll from there, forcing turnovers defensively and cashing in on easy shots at the other end. At the end of the quarter, the Pioneers led by a score of 23-12.

The Pioneers' momentum carried into the second quarter. The Indians couldn't seem to take the lid off of the basket, while the Pioneers drained seemingly every shot and were constantly expanding the lead. Going into halftime, the Pioneers were up 37-17. Emma Drouillard was the first half's leading scorer, going into the break with 13 points.

The third quarter was very fast-paced, with both teams pushing the ball up the court and scoring quickly. The Pioneers led 53-30 going into the fourth quarter and won the game by a score of 67-34. Emma Drouillard finished with 21 points, leading the game in scoring.

THREE STARS:

Emma Drouillard: Quite the senior night for Drouillard, who finished with a season-high 21 points. She did it efficiently, shooting 50% from the field.

Maggie Visniski: It was a very solid night for Visniski, who filled the stat sheet with 9 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists. She is now averaging 9 rebounds per game on the season.

Katie Ranck: The Pioneer frontcourt was firing on all cylinders tonight, with Ranck and Visniski proving to be too much for the Indians to handle inside the paint. Ranck contributed 13 points and 4 rebounds, shooting 50% from the field and also knocking down 2 three-pointers.

Honorable Mentions: Hailey Leaman, Madeline Gohn, Megan Manion.

STAT LEADERS:

Points: Emma Drouillard, 21
Rebounds: Maggie Visniski, 10
Assists: Jenna Daveler/Kiersten Hostetter/Megan Manion, 4

The Indians won't have to wait long for their next contest, as they host the Garden Spot Spartans tomorrow night. Ditto for the Pioneers, who head to Robesonia Tuesday night for a regular-season finale against the Conrad Weiser Scouts.
