Kiersten Hostetter scored the first points of the young season for the Pioneers, sinking a free throw after being fouled shooting a layup. After a few missed shots by both teams, the Pioneers took control of the game as Katie Ranck, Maggie Swarr, and Emma Drouillard all converted on three-point attempts during the remainder of the quarter. The Pioneers led by a score of 20-8 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, turnovers hurt the Spartans as Maggie Swarr and Emma Drouillard led the Pioneers into halftime with a 20 point lead. Swarr and Taylor Soehner led the scoring for their respective teams going into the break.

The third quarter was much of the same, however, Taylor Soehner was able to help the Spartans put a small dent into the Pioneer lead heading into the final 8 minutes of play. In the fourth quarter, Soehner grabbed her 10th rebound of the game off a missed shot by Katie Ranck, giving her a double-double. The Pioneers maintained their lead and won the game by a score of 57-39.

THREE STARS:

Emma Drouillard: The leading scorer for the Pioneers last season, Drouillard paced the Pioneer offense again today. Drouillard finished with 14 points along with 3 steals, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds.
