Girls Lacrosse ends on high note with Kelsey Kimmel scoring 100th goal of season
The Lampeter-Strasburg Girls Lacrosse season came to an end on Thursday, May 2 in their final game against Cedar Crest. Both the JV and varsity teams won, making it a great way to end the season.
This game was a great matchup overall with Kelsey Kimmel scoring her 100th goal of the season. Hayley Phenegar, captain of the JV team, played her first varsity game as well as scored her first varsity goal. Maggie Visniski, a freshman defender, played her second varsity matchup.
These great achievements lead to the varsity team playing Manheim Township at Conestoga Valley for playoffs. Both the JV and varsity team has received many compliments from the crowd about their sportsmanship and their ability to work together as a team. The team has even recieved compliments about how they act on the sidelines. The L-S girls lacrosse cheers each other on whether they are losing or having a great game. They are often found cheering each other's names, tumbling on the sidelines, and even dancing at the sight of a goal.

One of the team's favorite players is Mary Peticca, the varsity goalie. She is a senior and will be going to college this coming year, so the current JV goalie, Alexis Garrett, will be stepping up into her position with large shoes to fill. It's been a great season for the girl's pioneer lacrosse team. JV ended their season with a record of 12-3, one of the losses being non-league and not counting for the team's record at the end of the season. Varsity had a similar record and did very good this season as well.
