L-S swim teams participate in L-L League history making first ever tri-meet

Last night marked the start of the Lancaster-Lebanon League swimming season where the Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers girls swim team proved victorious defeating Manheim Central, 72-22. Unfortunately, the team fell to Warwick 64-30.

The girls took first and third in the 200 freestyle relay, besting Warwick by nearly two seconds for first place. Hailey Welchans posted top times for the Pioneers in the 50 (27.14) and 100 (1:00.66) freestyles and Catherine Horner led in the 200 (2:10.26) and 500 (5:57.27) freestyles.
The boys swim team has similar results as the girls falling to Warwick,72-21, but beating Central, 65-28.

Colin Anderson led the boys with a pair of overall wins, touching first in the 100 butterfly (52.83) —an event he won at last year's District Three Class 2A championships — and the 50 freestyle (22.18). The senior also teamed with Dylan Grau, Steven Hollern and Nathan Tobler to win the 200 medley relay.

The met made L-L League history being the first ever tri-meet.

This past Monday’s districtwide orchestra performance was a spectacular blend of symphony and adrenaline. Led by Mr. Robert Shaubach, the high school orchestra presented four very different pieces they have worked hard to bring to life. “Intermezzo Sinfonico” is described as a rustic composition from the Cavalleria Rusticana opera. The tone of the piece itself greatly resembles the grand music of an opera. The sound reverberated off the walls with impact and emotion at the peak of the song. Their next piece was one familiar to many. “The Chronicles of Narnia” piece encompassed much of the score from the movie. Fit for the silver screen, the ride took the audience to the farthest reaches of the land of Narnia. The “Narnia Main Theme” was carried out perfectly to the ear with its magical and uplifting melody. Thunderous booms from the drums brought a dramatic touch to this piece. Advice: How to get straight As

Achieving straight As, or an unweighted GPA of 4.0, is the goal of many high school students. Getting straight As involves a lot of hard work, but it isn't impossible. Here is how I believe you can get all As. Do your homework. The number of students who do not do their homework shocks me. But doing your homework has many benefits and will help keep your grades up. Those five points you receive for a homework check matter, and when you get a 0 out of 5, it matters even more. Doing your homework also helps you learn the information, raising your test and quiz grades as well. Don't procrastinate. Procrastination is the downfall of many high school students who are capable of good grades. When you receive an assignment, do it ASAP. And when you are given the date of a test, start studying immediately instead of waiting and then cramming the night before. A Harmonious Evening to Remember: The Lampeter-Strasburg District Chorus Concert

On March 14th, 2024, Lampeter-Strasburg High School hosted the District Chorus Concert. Students from 4th to 12th grade performed captivating songs, and the auditorium was packed full of friends and family members who came to watch the performance.  Preparation for the concert was a long process, but a much needed one. No one knew how to sing the songs in the beginning, but after several rehearsals and time to fix the small details, they got to the level they performed at on the 14th.  The evening started off with the youngest singers of the night: the 4th and 5th graders. Their performance was followed by the Martin Meylin Madrigal singers and chorus, followed by the High School Madrigals and chorus. To end the evening, all groups joined on stage to perform “Ad Astra” together, a beautiful piece consisting of Latin and English lyrics.
