Pioneers pummel Palmyra

L-S gave the fans what they wanted, a first round victory and a set up for a rematch with Solanco. Let's dive right into the game.
The Pioneers line up for an offensive play
The first quarter was the lowest scoring of the Pioneers season, ending 0-0. The only notable play that occurred was when George Grau notched an interception. The second quarter, however, started with a bang. QB Bear Shank capped off a long drive with a four-yard touchdown run as the Pioneers scored off the turnover. After a missed field goal, Palmyra would eventually fight back to tie the game 7-7.

L-S scored again before half but the extra point was blocked and the game sat at 13-7 L-S. Before the intermission both teams would exchange interceptions, Caleb Lopez picking off Palmyra first and then Bear Shank immediately throwing an interception to hand it back to the Cougars.

The Pioneers came out of the half ready to play. After Palmyra went three-and-out and shanked a punt, L-S took advantage of the short field to score a touchdown and go up 19-7 (failed 2pt conversion). Palmyra again quickly responded with a 13-yard touchdown run, making the score 19-13 (botched catch on hold, incomplete attempt at unplanned pass for 2pt conversion).

L-S, however, decided to put another nail in the coffin. Jordan Boynton returned the ensuing kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown. The game sat at 26-13 for awhile until Palmyra scored to make it 26-20. It was at this point that L-S would finally run away with things with two more touchdowns, one passing to Jordan Boynton, and the other a run by Chad Gaudino. This ended the game 41-20.

L-S played a strong Palmyra team and led the final three quarters. Such an impressive performance should renew confidence to the fans who were worried about the Pioneers struggling secondary. L-S faces Solanco in Quarryville next Friday at 7. Please be there to throw your support behind the Pioneers as they make their playoff run.
