Bittersweet senior night for girls' soccer ends with loss against Ephrata, 2-1

Wednesday night was a bitter-sweet night for the Lampeter-Strasburg Girls' Soccer team. They honored their graduating team members: Taylor Arnst, Taylor Skrodinsky, Gabby Williams, Emily Deardorff, Brittany Hatfield, Kristin Strubel, Allysa Pray, Madi Lawhead, and Shay McComsey.

The night started with the JV team, who won 2-0. Following that game, a traditional senior night ceremony was held. All the seniors walked out one by one with their parents next to them. It was a touching ceremony for many that recognized all the hard work these wonderful ladies have done. Once everyone was honored it was game time.

The whistle blew and the competition was on. L-S had several shots on goal, but none made it in. Ephrata then got the ball in the 23rd minute and passed it up the field which drew L-S goalkeeper out of the goal. Ephrata then passed it to a player in the middle, took a shot, and made it in.

The Pioneers came back 10 minutes later with a shot from Ryleigh Lefever that went right in between Ephrata’s goalkeeper’s legs. By the end of the half it was 1-1.

Eight minutes into the second half Ephrata took another shot that went in. As the half went on the Pioneers tried their best to get it back but never did. By the end of the night the final score was 2-1, Ephrata, and Lampeter Strasburg had made 18 shots on goal.
