Lady Pioneers' field hockey team notches 1-0 victory

On Monday September 21, the L-S field hockey team hosted Garden Spot on its home grass field. The Pioneers were eager for another win, and to that end, Coach Katrina Swarr urged her team to score early in the game to try to deflate the spirit of the visiting Spartans.

The girls did their cheer and the starters ran onto the field. In the beginning of the half, the ball was in their defensive circle a lot. Then, the girls played even better and kept the ball on the other side for a while. When there was about a minute left in the first half, junior Sammi Pletcher had an amazing cross to Alexis Mongeau, a senior, who tipped the ball into the cage for the first score of the game. At halftime both coaches complimented the girls on how they played.

During the second half, the L-S varsity team played very well, but they were not able to score any more goals. However, they did not relinquish any goals either, and the final score was 1-0. It was a great win for the L-S high school field hockey team.
