On Tuesday, February, Lampeter-Strasburg Junior High Boys Basketball went to Garden Spot for their last game of the season. When they last faced off, the Pioneers beat the Spartans by over 20 points. But Garden Spot was definitely ready to play this time.
The game started off with the usual starters Beau Heyser, Luka Vranich, Payton Cunningham, Carson Garver, and Berkeley Wagner. From the tipoff, L-S was not looking so great. In the first minute, the Pioneers would be down five before they would score their first basket of the game making it 5-2.
Late in first quarter, number 50 on Garden Spot took a bad fall on his ankle and was out for the rest of the game. The rest of the first half was back and forth of both sides, but at the buzzer, L-S was leading 22-14.
In the third quarter, a lot of things changed on both teams. L-S turned it over a lot less, and Garden Spot clamped up on defense to keep it a tight game. At the end of the third, L-S still led, but the score was 23-28.
The Lady Pioneers took on the Solanco Golden Mules at Lampeter-Strasburg High School Thursday night at 7:30. The outcome, devastating. The game started at tip-off Lampeter got the ball and made a quick first basket. Solanco retaliated making numerous shots. On both sides, the girls gave everything they had. As a team however Lampeter kept their composure ultimately doing their best to catch up with the lead Solanco composed.
At halftime, Solanco continued their lead. A few lucky shots on their side poured in. Both sides of the stands were packed, every action demanded loud eruption. Nora Holmes and Jackie Martin were able to shoot several three points to push the score up. Efforts from AB Groff and Olivia Varanich and many others helped get the score up. But ultimately the Mules took the lead and won.
The win for Solanco was devastating for L-S. The Pioneers are now tied with Solanco for first place in the section.
In My Own Words In this installment of In My Own Words, Andrew Reidenbaugh recounts the struggles of the boys swim team this season.
This past Wednesday the Lampeter-Strasburg swim team had there last regular season meet, which was against Ephrata. The L-S girls swim team has been doing really good this season, but the boys are struggling for their first win.

Therefore if we don't have any boys for one single event, the other team immediately gets 11 points.
