Boys swim team notches a victory against Ephrata; girls lose nail biter

Both the girls and boys Pioneer swim teams fought hard as they took on The Mountaineers of Ephrata. The suspenseful, close meet had everyone watching from the edge of the bleachers. 
The Pioneer girls ended up losing to the Mountaineer girls with the close score of 87-83. Kristin Allen took a first place in both 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke. Also, the girls 200-yard freestyle relay (Hailey Miller, Kaitlin Kreider, Meghan Brubaker, and Hailey Welchans) took a first place with the time of 1:55.14.

The Pioneer boys beat the Ephrata boys by a score of 86-67. First place swims came from Dalton Kreider (50-yard freestyle) and Colin Anderson (100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke). The 200-yard medley relay (Anderson, Jake Klecko, Dan Reidenbaugh, and Brandon Prouse) came in first with the time of 1:53.15. The 200-yard freestyle relay (Klecko, Prouse, Reidenbaugh, and Anderson) also received a first place with the time of 1:39.33. 
Anderson also broke another pool record in the 100-yard butterfly with the time of 53.99. 
As the teams tread towards the end of the season both teams hold a solid 2-2 record in their section. The girls are 3-5 overall, and the boys are 2-6 overall now with the win against Ephrata.
