Days before the nomination was due, the club’s advisors turned to vice president Megan Doolittle, pleading with her to be the one. Excerpt from the article: "Chelsea Hancock’s involvement with the Ski and Snowboard Club has been characterized by firsts: she is the club’s first female officer and now its first Fair Queen candidate. 'Absolutely elated to be able to represent [the] club', Hancock accepted the nomination when she learned that club advisor Mr. Jeff Landis longed to have a representative from the club."

Excerpt from the article: "Even new residents of Lancaster County know just how important the Lampeter Fair is to the area. The three-day fair is not only an expo of Lancaster County’s farming culture, but an event built on socializing, tradition, and good times, and it’s been like that for decades. Families have been coming to the fair for generations for this sense of fun and community."

Taylor Skrodinsky
Taylor will represent Student Council in the Fair Queen contest.

Excerpt from the article: "As the school year starts and the Fair nears, things are getting hectic for the L-S school district and indeed all of Lancaster county. There are events to plan, exhibits to set up, crops to be brought in, and a whole new school year that needs to be launched. On the academic side, the center of L-S’s ability to plan and execute school-wide events has always rested with the Student Council, and that prestigious body isn’t one to let the Fair Queen Competition pass itself by. "

Hailey Rohrer
Hailey will represent Do Something Club in the Fair Queen contest.

Excerpt from the article: "As the end of the year rolls around, whether students like it or not, it is time to start thinking about the next school year. And what better to think about than the West Lampeter Fair. In the opinion of senior Hailey Rohrer, why not think about the Fair Queen Competition? While most students would cringe at the thought of public speaking, writing essays, and attending interviews, Rohrer is certainly the exception. She was quick to volunteer for the unique opportunity to represent her club, her faith, and her love for agriculture. "

Rachel Shortes
Rachel will represent Mini-Thon in the Fair Queen contest.

Excerpt from the article: "A bout with illness at a young age gave Rachel Shortes a heart for kids who have cancer, so she joined the Mini-Thon planning committee. 'Mini-Thon is a branch off the big THON at Penn State. It supports kids with childhood cancer, and having high schools do it raises a lot of awareness. Seeing what they go through, I feel their pain,' she says. 'I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when I was nine, and it’s a life long illness.'"

Kristin Strubel
Kristin will represent Interact in the Fair Queen contest.

Excerpt from the article: "After school, Kristin Strubel walks briskly into her interview. Her hands are full of school supplies, but she does not appear overwhelmed. Strubel leaves the school grounds for a work study, so she had gotten stuck in terrible traffic, but she still sits down with a slightly eager grin and starts answering questions right away."

Sam Ingram
Sam will represent LSTS in the Fair Queen contest.

Excerpt from the article: "For as long as Samantha Ingram can remember, she has sat in the bleachers every September on Fair Queen Competition night watching the nervous candidates grace the stage at the West Lampeter Fair. '[They looked] like princesses,' and in Ingram’s opinion, 'Who wouldn’t want to be a princess?' However, the Fair Queen Competition has become much more than that for this passionate, fun loving candidate. This opportunity has become a vessel for using her public speaking gift, conducting herself as a role model for young 'princesses' to come, and, hey, it looked like fun!"
